You’re surely familiar with the Croque Monsieur, the French version of our classic ham and cheese sandwich… But what you might not have expected is that there’s a feminine version: the Croque Madame. It’s the same sandwich, but with a fried egg on top. It bears that name due to its resemblance to the hats
